MUSICAL PROGRAM LINE-UP

Julianne

JULIANNE has been interested in piano since very early age. She has a major in Music, with engagement in musical and cultural activities in university from 1990 on, always performing as keyboard player or singer in bands playing Brazilian Popular Folk Music in Recife, Pernambuco.

As a lead singer and keyboard player, she recorded cds, and performed at a number of Festivals, with experience abroad over 10 years in Florida, USA. Back to Brazil, from 2012 to-date, she has been in charge of the Maple Bear Brasília School music department. She also created the "Maple Bear" band in 2013, which since then has performed in school's cultural events, and is formed by teachers and school staff, musically directed by Julianne. Upon her visit to Calgary during this winter time, she has been invited to perform at REVEILLON 2017 by the Brazilian Association.

 


Vinicius

Vinnie Gadotti has developed his unique style as result of a lifetime of musical influence.
Vinnie's musical journey began in Brazil, it was here that he developed his musical tastes and interests, and it wasn't long after picking up a bass guitar that he was experimenting with the traditional Brazilian drums known as the Surdo, followed by other Brazilian traditional percussion instruments, all of which have had a profound influence on the direction his musical journey has taken.
Vinnie began playing professionally at the age of 19 by joining Vollare's Band, the most famous big band playing in the south of Brazil.
In Calgary since 2009, he became well known in the Calgary music scene by his unique talent and skills as a bass played and currently plays at Saturn 6, a local original rock band besides has a busy schedule playing freelance gigs, mainly Jazz, Bossa nova (Brazilian jazz), Samba, Funk, Country, Blues, Reggae, Rock and Indi.

JACKIE - Jaqueline Lederman is originally from Rio de Janeiro. She first joined a classic rock band at age 16 along with her foster father who is a guitar player. She has been involved with the Brazilian cultural scene in Calgary since summer 2015.During our Reveillon 2017 event, she will lead the Brazilian popular band. Jackie has performed at a number of BCA-AB events including NYE 2015/16, and Carnaval 2016.
Lead singer of the band playing this evening at 10pm with a select Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) setlist including authored and/or sung by Jorge Ben Jor, Ivete Sangalo, Tim Maia, and others.



Julio

JULIO is a Brazilian drummer with more than 20 years of experience playing a wide variety of music styles. He has built his musical career playing with various brazilian artist walking through a wide varieties of rhythms such as rock, pop, reggae, afoxe, frevo and others. He's an enthusiastic promoter of the Brazilian cultural music in Calgary. He is playing with Jackie's Band as well as Julianne's.



George

JORGE - Jorge Juan Rivera Carpio is Peruvian by birth. He lived in Brazil for 15 years working as a Sales Operation Manager. He is also a professional photographer, and a chef by trade. Music is his passion. As a musician has experience playing in bands since his time in Peru, while in Brazil, he specially focused on Irish music, and had the opportunity to immerse himself in the Brazilian Pop Music (MPB) scene.

He is a multi instrumentalist: guitar (acoustic and electric), bandolim, banjo. In Calgary, he has taken part a number of times in the monthly BCA-AB event "Brazilian Music JAM" as a singer and guitar player. At Reveillon 2017 he is joingin Jackie's Band as well as, Julianne's as a guitar player and back vocals.

Aiming to preserve and promote the Brazilian Culture in Canada, BCA-AB is creating a singing group (choir).
The rehearsals (about 1.5h) are weekly at Casa do Brasil, at the time that best suits the participants' schedules.
